I have read that the email rules are in a. They will migrate with the PST file but only if you do the migration correctly. They will still need to be reset to their new location before they wil work. Exporting and importing from RWZ files is no longer necessary, but can still be used. Trying to go back to an earlier version of Outlook is problematic, especially when it is now out of sync with the rest of Office.
The only "hoop" you must jump through is to create a new Outlook profile from scratch and reconnect it properly to your data file. From the sound of it, you did not do that correctly or there would have been no other "hoops" through which to jump.

Of course this took over an hour trying to figure out what the opening error message meant about using a profile with a version and finding online help that gave sufficient detail for correcting it. Rules will transfer with the PST to any new version as long as the transfer is done correctly. You never indicated you didn't know what creating a new profile meant. Not sure what you mean by "xp and win7 use a common.
I had OL10 running on the win7 drive for a week with no problems using the same. Seems that after reverting ol10 to ol07 on the win7 drive that the rules dissappearing problem happened. What's this about creating a new profile when installing OL13?? When OL13 was installed via Office nothing was indicated about setting up a new profile. So now I'm down the road a month or so with no old rules.
I assumed, maybe incorrectly, that my old OL10 pst was imported to O, but there are no old rules! Had all rules disappearing just because I deleted and re-added exactly the same Microsoft Email Account exchange server to the list of POP email accounts I have in Outlook. If I had known, I would not have added a non operative in my case I do not use it but for MS requirement to have a MS account email if possible and I would had no problems with the rules.

In reply to astro46's post on December 12, Not likely. What is likely is that you did not migrate the PST file correctly to the new profile. Outlook is very unforgiving in that regard. Acessing the same PST file with two different version of Outlook is a decidedly bad idea that has never been supported.
